Fundraising Tips

1.      Start early!
2.      Don't be SHY!! If you don't ask, the answer is always NO!
3.      Make it personal tell people why you are involved.
4.      Don't forget to ask at your place of business large companies usually like the tax write-off
5.      Create a flyer! In it talk about what the Komen Foundation is all about, what the ride is about and what YOU are about! Mail it to          everyone you know and even include a self addressed (stamped!) envelope to make it super easy for them to respond.
6.      If your company has a paper or other mode of communication for all the employees, find out if you can post an announcement.
7.      Talk to everyone you come in contact with farrier, tack store, grain store, other rides refer back to tip number 1!
8.      Ask your local store (horse or otherwise) if you can place a collection jar on their counter make sure you have your flyer there          explaining what the donations are for.
9.      SEND REMINDERS out 2-3 weeks prior to the deadline for those who may have intended but simply forgot.
10.    Email!! What a powerful tool! Send information and a request to everyone in your address book and DON'T FORGET TO ENCOURAGE          THEM TO PASS IT ALONG TO EVERYONE IN THEIRS! Include the link to online donation to make it easy for them to follow thru.
11.    Ask friends and family to donate to the ride in lieu of giving you a gift for an occasion.
12.    Set a $$$ goal and tell people what it is, keep them up to date on your progress.  Funny, some people like to be the one to go "over the          top".
13.    Send PERSONAL "Thank you" notes to all your donors! This makes people feel special and insures they will think of you next year and          remember the note.
14.    Reciprocal donations for everyone who asks for your sponsorship, ask for theirs in return.
15.    Go to your favorite riding club meeting and stand up and ask the club to sponsor you.
16.    HAVE FUN!!! If you are enthusiastic about what you are doing, people will respond with the same enthusiasm.
